my single-girl weekend

after dating for almost four years, jeff and i have gotten into a routine that allows us to set aside time for each other around our own individual schedules. right now, it goes like this: wednesday is always date night, unless its tuesday to watch lost with the boys. then, friday and saturday are set aside for us time, and usually midday sunday we are off again doing our own things.

jeff went off this weekend to go to the beach with a bunch of boys on friday, and he would not be back until sunday sometime. in addition, elizabeth went to her encounter with jesuit, so it was just me, all by my lonesome. it hasn't been that way since i moved out of vancouver, and even then i was itching to leave and see anybody, so i cant quite compare. this is how i spent my testosterone (almost) free weekend.

Friday: i had conferences until noon. crazy lady came for her conference and she brought samoas as a peace offering, which i accepted and ate in less than three days. dont judge me. after conferences, i had set up time to meet my brother so we could go to my OTHER brother's semifinals game for the OSAA state tournament. after eating a delicious tuna sandy from subway (jeff hates subway), i went to my parents house and watched some long-overdue dexter... so good. once patreecia arrived, we headed over to the rose garden to watch the game. my sisters and their kids and significant others also attended the game. unfortunately, my brother lost his game and they placed 5th overall in the state. not too bad, but certainly not what he wanted.

after the game, pat and i headed over to the teeny mcmenamins off of macadam and, since it was still friday and i am a good catholic, feasted on clam chowder (quite good there, surprisingly), tots, salad, and a tasty hard cider. patrick and i arent really ones for long, drawn out conversation, something my grandmother likes to politely point out. however, we did in fact have a very good conversation throughout dinner, which was pleasant and also entertaining. it is still very weird to have drinks with my little brother. the SAME little brother that was telling everyone the whole day that i was his "little sister" merely because i am shorter than him. whatever.

after dinner, i watched some more dexter and medium, caught up with travioli, and went home. BUT... one should never ever watch dexter and medium and then head home to your dark, empty apartment surrounded by trees. i called jack and made him stay on the phone with me until i knew no serial killers posing as blood splatter analysts were hiding in my closets. jack was thrilled... not.

Saturday: stayed in bed long after i woke up and decided i needed to get things done. did some jillian michaels yoga meltdown, which i am still sore from, and afterwards caught up with my momma. she, despite the reasoning for it, is excited to be coming home in a couple of weeks. i am too... i havent seen both my parents at the same time since christmas. blah. after our phone convo, i began to prepare for the evening ahead: movie night with aunt caitlin. laura's kids were coming over and i needed to prepare. headed to target by washington square and stopped for sushi on the way over. bought juice boxes, popcorn, gushers, and mulan. super ready to go. i went home and got everything ready for them, and grabbed a huge coffee for myself. once they arrived at 6:30pm, we watched two movies and played the wii, and before i knew it, it was past 11pm and they were still kicking. i was more tired than they were. bed at midnight.

Sunday: my "i am going to do absolutely nothing and not feel bad at all" day. and that is pretty much what is has been. did some laundry, picked up some lunch, and then decided to have a bath. BEST decision ever. i watched babe, did my nails, and caught up with my tivo. overall, not productive, and yet super productive at the same time. i slept, i pampered, i relaxed. perfect sunday.

and now jeff has returned, and i will end my single girl weekend sewing stuff for shadow stations, eating wonderful food, and being cuddled, since neither of us could have done that this weekend... kitty doesnt like it and the boys... well... uhm... never mind.
